Mr. Daniel Honeycutt is a mechanical engineer who is passionate about using science to understand and explain complex technical problems. Mr. Honeycutt specializes in physics simulation, crashworthiness, fluid flow including aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, design, testing, and accident reconstruction. Mr. Honeycutt has managed complex multidisciplinary engineering matters including finite element analyses, human factors, human safety, design, metal fabrication, composite materials, prototyping, and visualization. Mr. Honeycutt has extensive experience in vehicle rollovers including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and racecars. Prior to joining ESi, Mr. Honeycutt worked at the NASCAR Research and Development Center as Director of Vehicle Engineering and as an engineer for one of the top NASCAR race teams. Mr. Honeycutt is a subject matter expert and reviewer for the Society of Automotive Engineers.

Mr. Honeycutt was also an engineer at Lockheed Martin where he gained a wealth of hands-on knowledge conducting wind tunnel tests, performing aircraft structural analysis, and designing aircraft structures.

In addition, Mr. Honeycutt has a strong working knowledge of commercial engineering simulation and modeling tools, including STAR-CCM+ for CFD (computational fluid dynamics) and Creo 3-D. He has also invented an automotive wing end plate design for which he was granted a U.S. utility patent. Mr. Honeycutt has published and presented a peer-reviewed journal paper at the Society of Automotive Engineers World Congress on the subject of Race Vehicle Aerodynamic Lift-off.
